The leaks and rumors of the pixel 10 series ended by its launch on 20 August. The specs turned out to be very similar to what the leaks said, but this series has brought some unknown significant feature which nobody had an idea that pixel 10 lineup is going to have nor were they revealed/endorsed in the event.
Before we jump into the main point of this article, let’s talk about how the Pixel 10 launch event went.
The Google Pixel 10 event was unlike any Pixel event ever happened in the past, since this year the event was pushed by some paid celebs, including late-night comedian Jimmy Fallon and featured appearance by NBA star Stephen curry, Formula one driver Lando Norris and some other, but the strange thing about the event was that not a single one from amongst the paid celebs has background in technology, which caused the event sounded cringe.
How can someone rely upon a smartphone review or event which is done by someone who doesn’t have background in tech products!
Things you didn’t hear about Pixel 10 series at the launch event.
1. Thread Radio
Today’s smartphones act as a multitasker since they have replaced so many traditional tech products, such as Torch, Calculator, Watch, Navigator and so on. In recent years, we have seen so many smartphones coming with IR Blaster, which mimics traditional remote control. Google has introduced In-built thread radio in Pixel 10 lineup, making it the first android smartphone to get such hardware, which acts the same as IR Blaster but with different technology. IR Blaster requires clear line between blaster and the device being controlled and works in a limited range, whereas the thread radio can penetrate wall to some extent and has greater range than IR Blaster.
2. AV1 Codec

The rise of video creation/consumption has aroused the demand for getting better video quality, which again demands a lot of storage. AV1 Codec is a format to record videos which can save you a ton of storage. It can save 25% to 30% of storage over H.265 without any drop in quality. Google has introduced AV1 codec in pixel 10 lineup, first time in any android smartphone, and this is only possible due to the latest tensor G5 chipset.
3. Improved OIS
OIS is a hardware-based feature which helps stabilize the video. Google pixel has doubled the range of OIS in 50 MP main lens, exclusive to Pixel 10 pro and Pro Xl, which bring a reduction in shakiness while recording video. This upgrade can contribute to those video recording shots which require smartphone movement.
4. No more Sim card slot in the US version.
Apart from such upgrades, there is one downgrade as well. The US version of Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro Xl have only e-SIM support, leaving no way to use physical sim card, but the Pixel 10 Pro fold both US and International version retain sim card slot.
Why am I considering e-sim only a downgrade?
Since smartphone users are not habitual to using e-SIM features, that’s why sim card slot is a necessity to be there as a primary option.
