Over the past few years, smartphones have improved a lot and are now performing exceptionally well. The stuff which used to be the downside of a smartphone has become its strength and is now being used as a marketing asset.
We have seen a huge jump in every department of a smartphone, such as the camera department, display, processor and especially the battery, but not every smartphone user demands a smartphone that should be smart in each department.
Since a pro gamer requires an outstanding display and a powerful processor whereas a photographer looks for a camera centric smartphone and a social media user wants a balanced feature smartphone, but the battery department is something where every smartphone unite because each task which i have mentioned above demands long lasting battery backup.
Analyzing the requirements/needs of a smartphone user, we reach to the point that there is one thing common in every smartphone user, which is to have a solid battery backup, and such is the reason that most of the smartphone companies have taken the battery department as a marketing tool and are now launching every next smartphone with a record breaking battery capacity (highest battery mAh capacity). As a result, they end up competing each other.
Analyzing all the things you may come up with two questions?
- Does higher the battery mAh always mean longer the battery backup?
- Why aren’t Samsung, Apple and Google jumping in this competition?
Does higher the battery mAh always mean longer the battery backup?
If you are from amongst those who often see only battery mAh to consider a good battery smartphone, then you may end up getting a wrong smartphone since higher the mAh does not always mean longer the battery backup because the smartphone optimization, better cooling system and a powerful processor equally contribute to the battery backup.
The recently launched IQOO Neo 10 & POCO F7 are almost two days battery smartphone, the IQOO neo 10 comes with a 7000 mAh battery whereas the poco F7 comes with 7550 mAh battery. If you see only mAh capacity, then poco F7 is supposed to outlast the IQOO Neo 10, but the battery drain test shows contrary to what you are expecting.
If you run a battery drain test, then you may get to see, despite the IQOO neo 10 having a slightly smaller battery than POCO F7, yet it always outlast the poco F7 since the iqoo neo 10 has batter optimization which saves a lot of battery power.
The same thing can be seen in each iPhone because they always come with an average battery capacity, but due to powerful processor and better optimization, they can always outlast any smartphone of the same battery capacity.
Why aren’t samsung, apple and google jumping in this competition?
The smartphone companies giving you huge battery capacity is only possible due to newly silicon carbide battery technology, but Samsung, Apple & Google are playing safe. They have not adopted this technology because they don’t have data to know how these batteries will perform in the long run. Moreover, these are the most valuable companies which don’t work only on the battery department. Instead, they launch flagship smartphones to target every type of smartphone user in the market.
