Hopefully, there are still such rational smartphone users who expose the hype and say, “don’t get fooled, this is the same iphone as last year which doesn’t offer any meaningful upgrade”. To some extent, this is really the case because smartphones seem to have reached a peak and don’t come with any significant upgrade as they used to do. - The price has technically gone down.
In the past, there used to be 128GB variant of base model at a price of $799, but now the 128GB variant is no longer there and the 256GB variant is being sold at the same price as $799, which makes it $100 cheaper than pixel 10 base model.
- Selfie camera received a huge upgrade.
Selfie camera has stepped up from 12MP to 18MP, but the major upgrade to the selfie camera is that you can now take photos and record videos in landscape mode while holding your smartphone vertically, and this is only possible due to featuring squared shape selfie camera sensor.
- Display refresh rate has finally been upgraded.
The base model of the iPhone lineup is always criticized for giving 60Hz refresh rate since 120Hz refresh rate was exclusive to pro model only.
Finally, Apple has introduced 120Hz refresh rate in base model iPhone 17, making it the first base model iPhone to get 120Hz refresh rate. Such upgrades can bring smoothness and enrich scrolling and gaming experience.

Sometimes getting early can cost you money, whereas getting late can save you a ton of money. Currently, the price of the iPhone 17 lineup is at its peak, but as time passes by they will go down and will be sold at a huge discount. So it is better not to be in hurry to grab the latest and stick with whatever you have because the price drop is inevitable to happen.
