Imagine, you are going to purchase a used (second hand) smartphone that must be in good working condition, then it requires you to check every hardware of the smartphone, such as camera, display, microphone speaker and battery as well.
- In order to check the camera, you record a video and capture a photo.
- In order to check the display, you have to have a look at it and find out whether it is intact or not.
- In order to check the microphone, you will make a call.
- In order to check the speaker, you play music and videos.
But there is no way to check exact battery health the way you check other smartphone’s hardware. Even if you use the smartphone throughout the day and drain the smartphone battery from 100% to 0%, it can only get you an idea, but not the exact battery health.
iPhone users don’t have to worry about it since every iPhone comes with a built-in feature to check battery health, but Samsung users are deprived of such a kind of feature. Despite that, there is still a way for Samsung users to check battery health manually.
In order to check battery health on Samsung smartphone, you have to follow the steps mentioned below.
Step 1.
Dial *#9900# on your phone and it will automatically get you to a new user interface.
Step 2.
Click on Run dumpstate/logcat and wait for a couple of minutes.
Step 3.
Click on Copy to sdcard(include CP Ramdump) and wait for a couple of minutes. (basically this process compiles all your smartphone information in text form, in order to read that text you have to install loglog application)
Step 4.
Open play store and install loglog application.
Step 5.
Open the loglog application and click on the file icon below then click on three horizontal lines on the top left corner.
Step 6.
Click on internal storage just below the download option and find a log folder and open it.
Step 7.
Once you open the log folder then find a dumpstate file along with your smartphone model number. (You will find multiple files with the same name as dumpstate. open each dumpstate file and find the latest one. In my case, its 07 September 2026 today and the same date is mentioned as you can see below on left photo.)
Step 8.
Click on the search icon and type mSavedBatteryAsoc then you will see a pop-up right below and click Ok.
Once you click OK then it will bring up all the confidential information related to your smartphone battery, as you can see on the screenshot below.
Battery Health – The highlighted text on the screenshot shows the battery health, as you can see here 83 battery health after almost two years of usage.
Battery first use date – Right above the highlighted text it shows the first date when the smartphone battery was taken in use, as you can see here it shows 20241001 (1 October 2024).
Battery cycle – Just below the highlighted text it shows the battery cycle, as you can see on the screenshot above it shows 59430. Just ignore the last two digits and 594 is the battery cycle.
